UMMSS ELECTIONS
A new year and a new start! Get involved in 2012 with the UMMSS Committee and represent your fellow medical students.
Nominations are now open for the following positions:
Open to all year levels
- Community Liaison Officer
- International Students’ Officer
- Preclinical Vice President (must nominate as a team of 2)
- Technical Officer
Open to years 2 and above
- Events Officer
- Membership Officer
- Publications Officer (must nominate as a team of 2)
- IFMSA SCOPE Local Exchange Officer (non-voting, ex-officio position)
Open to final-year students
- Final Year Representatives – St Vincents, RMH, Western, Rural, Austin (non-voting, ex-officio positions)
The nomination period will run from Friday 17th February at 5 pm to Friday 24th February at 5 pm. The election period will be held from Sunday 26th February at 9 pm to Sunday 4th March at 9pm.
You may nominate for up to three positions. Please submit the following details to secretary@ummss.org.au:
- Nominee: name, student number, current semester, email address and phone number
- Seconder: name, student number, current semester, email address and phone number
Also, a vision statement of no more than 100 words for each position you are applying for.

Well well well, it’s already that time of year where we have to sharpen our pencils, get a new book pack (who would’ve thought bound paper would be so expensive?!), pack our bags and wonder: where the f*** did our holidays just go?!
To help you all ease back into it, get over the divorce with summer holidays or just to plain old forget how terrible the lectures in the first week have been, the RMH Medical Students Society are putting on a Pleasant Friday Afternoon (aka PFA) for you. One which will really set the bar high for future PFAs………
We’re going ol’ skool, the way things used to be. So come dressed retro style (old uniforms and similar items will work a treat 
……)
Tickets will be sold Monday – Thurs at all Clinical Schools (see your Rep or anyone who makes an announcement) and in the Med Building foyer Mon – Thurs lunchtime from 12-2pm. There will be no ticket sales Friday daytime.
$15 (UMMSS / med students)
$20 (Non-UMMSS / non-med students)
$25 for ANYONE ON THE NIGHT
In other words, GET YOUR TICKET BEFORE FRIDAY 10TH!! (yes, soon!!!)
What do you get for your money?
- All you can drink. We mean it. Beer, UDLs, punch, soft drink.
- A decent BBQ 6-7:30pm.
- Dance floor
- An outdoor venue to lounge in the evening sun and make use of this summer weather
So come along and catch up with all your friends, share stories of your holidays and electives, and meet new people – we do have new MDs!
